2026: 1st Quarter

As a follow-up to my previous post on the Adaptive Games last month (February 15), I stated that I would make another post reflecting on how 2026 is going so far. To clarify, these quarterly and any future posts will remain apolitical, due to my severe distaste for anything like that: it's a poisonous chalice to me.

Starting in January 2026, came the 7th anniversary of my nan's passing, which still affected me but was more subdued due simply to time passing. There wasn't much of substance to talk about in the month, as the next one would have many events.

Moving forward to February 2026, the main events that would capture my attention were the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games beginning on the 6th of February and ending 2 weeks later.

However, on the 15th of the month, I was due to take part in my 6th Adaptive Games, this time a more local affair, at a school where I had been training for 4 years at the time of writing. And this was where everything changed, as from 9 am to 4 pm, the 7 hours I would take part in would yield one of my biggest achievements since I started taking part some 3 or so years ago.

Working with my partner, we had done our best, and it paid off in the end, as due to multiple errors by the judges, we had been upped from getting a silver medal in the full mini-Olympiad. We'd been awarded GOLD. And I was shocked and overjoyed, as I'd never won any of the prior Games.

The euphoria from my win rippled through the rest of February, until March soon approached, where things currently stand. My father's birthday came and went, with my brother's 22nd being a blip on the radar. As of now, we are approaching the end of March and the start of April, with spring on the horizon.

As for my next quarterly update, it should be around June or July.

I'll see you on the other side.
